Experienced in fine arts, commercial design and art direction, Troy Jones creates pieces that blend textural studio techniques with found objects and graphic advertising elements.

Jones' style of gritty analog layering has roots that go back to his upbringing in the coal mining country of Utah. There he learned how to fix a motorcycle, weld a joint, and wield a paintbrush. Now, with over 20 years of design and art direction in advertising, Jones combines his love of typography and commercial graphics with found textures, works from his personal archive, and mass media.

His current works are spontaneous compositions of collage, created through explorations of various materials in his home studio. Using inventive techniques like Xerox transfers and school-glue glazes, each piece comes alive with the poetry of intimate artifacts and bold messaging — reframed.
